Sustainability in Festivals: The Commitment of FARRA EVENTS

FARRA EVENTS SUSTAINABLE FESTIVALS

The music production and event industry is increasingly aware of the need to implement measures that promote sustainability in their actions. Positioning ourselves in the United Nations Decade of Action to reaffirm the achievement of the Agenda 2030 objectives is key to the sustainability of the industry itself, as well as implementing measures that prevent social and environmental impacts.

Farra Events, as the producer and organizer of LAS ROCAS, recognizes the importance of promoting sustainability in the cultural sector and music industry. Hence, its commitment to implementing an environmental sustainability plan for the event.

WHY FESTIVALS NEED TO BE NOT ONLY FUN BUT ALSO SUSTAINABLE

Festivals need to be sustainable because all events held generate a high negative impact on the environment and people. Therefore, we can and must reduce the carbon footprint of Las Rocas. Festivals produce the following negative effects:

– Increase in waste.
– High energy, water, and food consumption.
– Generation of air pollution.
– Noise and light pollution.
– Increase in mobility, encouraging it to be sustainable.
– Greater degradation of the surroundings.

TIPS TO ENJOY THE FESTIVAL SUSTAINABLY

To counteract the negative impact, at the Las Rocas festival we will provide you with guidelines that, thanks to the collaboration of professionals from different sectors and the joint work between promoters, organizers, sponsors, suppliers, and participants, will help improve all these aspects.

1. Choose Sustainable Festivals. Research the festival you are planning to attend to ensure it has sustainable practices. Review the festival’s environmental policies.

2. Reduce plastic usage: Opt for reusable products instead of disposable plastic ones.

3. Consume vegan/plant-based products. Avoid animal-based products, which reduces the carbon footprint.

4. Use water responsibly: Use the water fountains installed at the event with your festival cup.

5. Awareness. Participate in the social & green corner and its sustainable activities, focusing on equality, integration, volunteering, and social programs.

6. Eco-friendly transport and accommodation: Use public transport or carpooling to reduce CO2 emissions. Consider nearby accommodation options to reduce the need for travel.
